Oregon WR Troy Franklin projected as first-round pick in multiple 2024 NFL mock drafts

The Oregon Ducks were well-represented throughout the 2023 NFL Draft.

In total six Ducks were selected over the course of seven rounds last weekend. That marks the most Oregon players selected in a single draft since 2009.

As we turn the page on the 2023 Draft, it’s never too early to start evaluating which Oregon players might hear their names called in 2024.

This week, countless way-too-early 2024 mock drafts have surfaced. Many of those have Ducks’ quarterback Bo Nix tabbed as one of the best signal-callers available in next year’s class. CBS Sports has Nix projected as a first-rounder.

But Nix isn’t the only Oregon offensive star generating early 2024 Draft buzz.

Multiple outlets have listed sophomore receiver Troy Franklin as a potential first-round pick next spring.

A former 4-star recruit who was the No. 43 overall prospect and the No. 5 receiver in the class of 2021, Franklin emerged as Oregon’s unquestioned No. 1 pass-catcher in 2022. The 6-foot-3 wideout caught a team-high 61 passes for 891 yards and nine touchdowns during his first full season as a starter.

Over the weekend, Bleacher Report released a first-round mock and predicted the Green Bay Packers will select Franklin with the 11th overall pick in 2024. The only receiver listed ahead of him is Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr., who is projected at No. 2 overall.

Meanwhile, Allen Trieu of 247Sports projected Franklin No. 14 overall to the New York Giants — 12 spots behind Harrison, and one spot behind Texas receiver Xavier Worthy. Here’s the rundown from Trieu regarding Franklin.

“The Giants need playmakers and Troy Franklin has the speed to be a dangerous weapon. After a big sophomore year, if he continues that this year, he should put himself in the conversation to be taken by New York.”

As Franklin enters his third year with the Oregon program, he has spent the spring fine-tuning the intrecate details of his game to become an even more complete receiver.

“He’s putting himself in hard situations and difficult situations, trying to win the routes,” Oregon receives coach Junior Adams said in April. “I always tell him it’s like being a basketball player. You’ve got to be a walking bucket. Any time you get (man coverage) we’ve got to be able to go to you at any point.”

Along with Franklin, the Ducks return starting slot receiver Kris Hutson. They also added two key transfer portal additions at receiver during the offseason in Traeshon Holden (Alabama) and Tez Johnson (Troy).
