Oregon's Bo Nix accepts invite to Reese's Senior Bowl
Bo Nix closed the book on his Oregon career after the Ducks’ dominant Fiesta Bowl win over Liberty on New Year’s Day.
As he sets his sights on the 2024 NFL Draft, the former UO star quarterback is set to participate in one of college football’s more significant year-end events.
On Wednesday, Nix accepted an invitation to participate in the Reese’s Senior Bowl. He is the second Oregon player this far to do so, along with defensive end Brandon Dorlis.
Last season, EDGE DJ Johnson was the Ducks’ lone participant.
In the final season of his college career, Nix became just the fourth Heisman Trophy finalist in program history, joining Joey Harrington (2001), LaMichael James (2010), and Mariota (2014).
He finished the 2023 season with 4,508 yards and 45 passing touchdowns — both of which are UO single-season records.

Nix also broke former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones’ NCAA record for completion percentage in a single season after finishing the season 364-for-470 (77.45%).
While many of college football’s top players opted to sit out their respective teams’ bowl games this season, Nix surprised many by playing in the Fiesta Bowl. He led the Ducks to a 45-6 win over Liberty and went 28-for-35 passing for 363 yards and five touchdowns.
“My decision was simple. I wanted to go out and compete one more time. I wanted to go out and play another game,” Nix said. “I don’t think you’re promised many opportunities to play the game of football, and with the year that we had, it would have been a shame if I didn’t go out there and finish with the guys who made it all possible. So, all I can go off is just my feelings and my decision. I didn’t think — I never had a question if I was playing in it. I just kind of thought it was going to be assumed that I was going to play in it, to be honest with you.
“It wasn’t much of a decision. For some guys, that’s different. It’s situationally based, but I couldn’t wait to get back on the field with these guys after what happened on December 1st. I couldn’t wait to get back out there and compete one more time. If I had the opportunity, I was going to go use it.”
The Reese’s Senior Bowl will be held at Hancock Whitney Stadium in Mobile, Ala. on Feb. 3.
