Oregon’s interior defensive line depth received yet another massive boost on Tuesday.

Casey Rogers, one of the Ducks’ top defensive players last season, announced that he will return for the 2023 college season.

Rogers made the news official with a Twitter post.

After transferring in from Nebraska last offseason, Rogers made an immediate impact for Dan Lanning’s defense at a significant position of need.

In 13 games, the fifth-year junior racked up 34 tackles and 3.5 tackles for loss. According to Pro Football Focus, Rogers played 442 snaps — the 10th-most of any Oregon defensive player and the most by a Duck defensive lineman aside from Brandon Dorlus.

“I’ll never forget my first game at Autzen Stadium,” Rogers said in his announcement. “The noise, the smell, the feeling of pure excitement. Nothing in my life has ever compared to that. This year has been the best year of my life for many reasons; my coaches, my teammates, the Oregon fans and that’s why I can’t leave. I’m coming back.”

Rogers becomes the sixth Oregon upperclassman to announce his intent to return next season.

Dorlus, Quarterback Bo Nix, offensive lineman Steven Jones, nose tackle Popo Aumavae, and Edge rusher Mase Funa are set to return as well.

Taki Taimani and Keyon Ware-Hudson — both of whom played key roles up front for the Ducks last season — will return in 2023, too.

More on the 2023 NFL Draft

The 2023 NFL Draft takes place from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The event location this year is the plaza just outside of Union Station.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft begins at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Apr. 27. Rounds 2-3 will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Apr. 28, and Rounds 4-7 will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Apr. 29. The draft broadcast runs throughout the weekend on both ESPN and NFL Network.

To be eligible for the NFL Draft, players must be at least three years removed from their final year of high school while having used up their collegiate eligibility. Underclassmen are able to request league approval to become eligible for the draft, as are players who have graduated prior to using up all of their collegiate eligibility. One hundred underclassmen gained approval for last year’s draft. Seventy-three of those 100 underclassmen received special eligibility while 27 of them were underclassmen who had completed their college degrees.

The 2023 NFL scouting combine will take place from Feb. 28 through March 6 in Indianapolis.
