Oregon's Christian Gonzalez drops in latest CBS mock draft
Former Oregon standout Christian Gonzalez continues to generate plenty of intrigue as we inch closer to the 2023 NFL Draft.
In his lone season with the Ducks, Gonzalez established himself as one of the top cornerbacks in the Pac-12 and skyrocketed up draft boards. In 12 games last fall, the 6-foot-2 third-year sophomore recorded 50 tackles, including 35 solo stops, and 1.0 tackles for loss. He also hauled in four interceptions and broke up 11 passes.
At this point, there isn’t quite a consensus among Draft analysts on where exactly Gonzalez should be selected in April. Several analysts have listed him among their top-five prospects, while others have him as a fringe first-rounder.
On Wednesday, Chris Trapasso of CBS released an updated two-round mock draft.
Gonzalez was the lone Duck listed among Trapasso’s 63 selections. He projected that the Pittsburgh Steelers will select Gonzalez with the 17th overall pick.
“The Steelers need to add more youthful talent to the secondary, and Gonzalez is arguably the most calm but effective outside corner in the class,” Trapasso wrote.

Although Trapasso has Gonzalez listed slightly lower than many other Draft analysts do, he does have the former Oregon star tabbed as his No. 13 overall prospect and No. 2 cornerback. Only South Carolina’s Cam Smith (No. 7 overall) is ranked higher among cornerbacks.
Trapasso made waves with his latest mock by projecting that the Indianapolis Colts will select former Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson with the No. 1 overall pick.
The only Pac-12 players he has listed ahead of Gonzalez are former USC receiver Jordan Addison (No. 12 overall) and former Oregon State tight end Luke Musgrave (No. 15 overall).
Here’s a rundown of Trapasso’s updated top-10. You can find his entire two-round mock here.
