On Thursday, Collegiate Baseball released its year-end All-American teams and Oregon’s Drew Cowley was among the players selected.

Cowley, a senior shortstop, was recognized as a third-team All-American by the publication. He was the lone Oregon player and one of just seven Pac-12 players to make the cut.

LSU right-handed pitcher Paul Skenes was named Player of the Year.

In 57 games this season, Cowley is slashing .336/.422/.632 while hitting in the middle of the Ducks’ batting order. He leads the team with 75 hits and is tied for the team lead with 15 homers, 61 RBI, 57 runs, and 19 doubles.

Cowley, as well as Ducks’ third baseman Sabin Ceballos, broke the program record for RBI this spring.

An Upland, Calif., native, Cowley began his career at Cal Poly Ponoma before transferring to Oregon ahead of the 2021 season. He missed a significant portion of last season with a hand injury but slashed .424/.506/.616 in 40 games and received second-team All-ABCA West Region honors.

This season, Cowley, Ceballos, and Jace Stoffal were first-team all-Pac-12 selections.

Cowley is just the third player in program history to be recognized as an All-American by Collegiate Baseball.

3-2-1: Previewing Oregon baseball at the Nashville Regional

The Oregon Ducks will begin their NCAA Tournament journey this week when they travel to Nashville for the Vanderbilt Regional.

The Ducks (37-20) are one of the hottest teams in the nation at the moment. Last weekend, they captured the Pac-12 Tournament title with a 5-4 win over Arizona to cap off a streak of four wins in five days.

Oregon’s surge at the conference tournament cemented its status as a No. 2 seed in the 64-team NCAA Tournament field. In Nashville, the Ducks are pooled with region-host Vanderbilt (41-18, 19-11), which ended the regular season as the No. 6 team in the nation.

Xavier (37-23, 14-7 Big East) is the No. 3 seed in the region, while Eastern Illinois (38-19, 13-11 OVC) is the No. 4 seed.

The Ducks will open NCAA Tournament play with Xavier Friday at 10 a.m. PT. The game will air on ESPN+.

Until then, here are three players to watch — one from each of Oregon’s regional opponents — two keys to success for the Ducks, and one prediction for how the region will unfold.
