Devon Allen, a former two-sport star at the University of Oregon, was reportedly part of the Philadelphia Eagle’s latest round of cuts on Tuesday.

Matt Lombardo of Heavy On Sports reported that the Eagles have released Allen.

During the preseason, Allen caught one pass — a 55-yard touchdown reception.

Allen signed with the Eagles in April after making a return to football that came as a surprise to many.

Throughout three football seasons at Oregon, though, he proved to be an electric playmaker when healthy. In 2014, he hauled in 41 passes for 684 yards and a team-high seven receiving touchdowns.

But his last competitive football game prior to this year came in 2016 when he suffered a torn ACL. Shortly after, he elected to go pro in track and field.

One of the top 110-meter hurdlers in the world, Allen is a two-time Olympian who placed fourth at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. He owns the fastest 110-meter hurdle time in the world in 2022 after finishing in 12.84 seconds on June 12 in New York. That was good for the third-fastest time in history.

It was reported on Tuesday that the Eagles could be hoping to resign Allen to their practice squad.
