Post NFL Combine: The Latest Buzz on Oregon Participants

Late last week and through the weekend Oregon had a record-setting number of players at the NFL combine. The combine can be a pivotal piece for NFL GM’s and Scouts to evaluate players in person and to get a chance to know them. Some of the questions teams might have don’t have anything to do with athletic skill.
Not everyone raises their stock in an NFL draft. And many will have a shot at redemption with pro days and meetings with respective teams.
I combed through the massive list of stock ups/stock downs, winners/losers and other articles that were similar. They are everywhere. But these three players below were the most commonly referenced across multiple publications and writers.
It’s worth noting that players not on this list necessarily had a bad day. There’s a lot of players that don’t move the needle much one way or the other. Not all participate in all of the drills. And keep in mind, none of these writers work for an NFL team so who knows which players really stood out to certain GM’s.

Here are the top three Oregon players that raised their stock at the NFL combine.
OT Josh Conerly – Conerly very likely made himself some money at the combine. He was already pretty widely expected to go in the first round, or at least late in the first round but I think he did enough to push for mid first round consideration. Tackles are at a premium in the league because they protect your biggest investment on the field.
The NFL combine was very beneficial for Conerly.
Vitals: 6-foot-5, 311-pounds, 33.5″ arms, 10 3/8″ hands
Stats: 40 Yard: 5.05, Vert: 34.5″, Broad: 8’7″
TE Terrance Ferguson – This was a real breaking out party for Ferguson. I’m not really sure where he was going to be drafted prior to the combine but it felt like a mid to late round target. He isn’t going to be a first rounder but I think he did enough to push for those earlier rounds, maybe late 2 (at best) to early 4 range. He put on a really good show and was listed on multiple reports as at stock up guy.
Vitals: 6-foot-5, 247-pounds, 32 7/8″ arms, 9.25″ hands
Stats: 40 Yard: 4.63, Vert: 39″, Broad: 10’2″
DL Derrick Harmon – Harmon was another guy that really helped his stock in the draft. He was coming in to the combine showing up on some first round mock draft lists but not consistently. I don’t think you’ll see many mock drafts moving forward without him in the first round and some might even start including him in the top 20.
Harmon definitely created a lot of buzz with his performance this weekend.
