Predicting the CFB Playoff Games
We’ve got a great slate of games that all begin Tuesday night. Of course these playoff games have an impact on Oregon potentially assuming the Ducks can get past Ohio State in the Rose bowl.
Here are my predictions for each of the college football playoff games.
Penn State vs Boise State
VRBO Fiesta Bowl – 4:30 ESPN (Tuesday)
Penn State 44-34
I want Boise State to win but I have a really tough time seeing it happen. They will have to play a perfect game and probably will have to get creative in the passing game. As much fun as an upset might be, I don’t think this is the game that gives us one.
Texas vs ASU
Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl – 10:00 ESPN
Texas 38 – 24
When Texas is playing good football they are as good as anyone out there. They have a tough defense and athletes all over the field. But they do lack some consistency and that is what ASU is going to need. I want Dilly to win. I’m hoping to watch Skattebo rack up 250 yards and lead an upset. I’m just not confident that happens.

Ohio State vs Oregon
Rose Bowl – 2:00 ESPN
Oregon 37-30
If you read my roundtable on the surprise storyline then I’m predicting Oregon to get up early and hold a lead at half. If that is the case we could see Oregon running out the game in the second half trying to preserve the lead but not getting too conservative. Ohio State will make a run but the Ducks will hold out for the win and there will be questions about Ryan Day winning the big games.
Notre Dame vs Georgia
Allstate Sugar bowl – 5:45 ESPN
Notre Dame 34-24
I have not been on team ND all season. But they are playing pretty good ball headed into this one and healthy. Which is not really the case for Georgia. The wild card is Kirby Smart’s ability to win big games which he’s one of the best at. Still I think this isn’t Georgia’s year and Notre Dame is poised to give Marcus Freeman a signature win.
