Predicting the Pac: Week Three
Well here we are, one final week of non-conference play in the Pac-12. And perhaps one of the more interesting weeks I can recall in a while.
Oregon has a big test. Washington has a big test. And USC has a rather intriguing game of its own.
Last week I went 8-2 in my non-Oregon picks. Which isn’t bad. Let’s see the picks for this week and hope for similar success.
(All times listed in PST)
South Alabama @ UCLA – 11:00
Chip Kelly should be well on his way to 3-0 to start the season. Another big UCLA win on deck before playing Colorado to open conference play.
45-13 UCLA
Cal @ Notre Dame – 11:30
Toughest game for me to pick this week. Notre Dame is on the ropes and starting a backup quarterback. I think Cal has a shot, but it will be a close one.
24-20 Notre Dame
BYU @ Oregon – 12:30
Quick link to my pick on Tuesday.
44-34 Oregon
Colorado @ Minnesota – 12:30
Show us a pulse Colorado. A sign of life. Something.
31-14 Minnesota
Colorado State @ Washington State – 2:00
Colorado State is 0-2 after losing to Middle Tennessee last week. And now you are aware Middle Tennessee has a football team.
41-7 Wazzu
Michigan State @ Washington – 4:30
Second most interesting Pac-12 game of the week. And I actually think UW wins this game. I’m not totally sold on MSU being a top ten team. The Huskies strength, passing game, is the Spartans weakness. Their pass defense is pretty rough. I guess we’ll find out Saturday. Huskies win, which means the Ducks can’t afford a loss.
37-34 Washington
Montana State @ Oregon State – 5:00
The Beavers might be one of the top four teams in the Pac-12 conference that nobody is talking about. Big Beavs win Saturday night.

San Diego State @ Utah – 7:00
That Florida loss might have woken up the Utes. Which makes them even more dangerous. We’re going to learn A LOT about Utah the next several weeks. Next is ASU, Oregon State, UCLA, USC and Wazzu IN THAT ORDER.
44 – 9 Utah
Fresno State @ USC – 7:30
I’m not trying to be a hater, but I’m still not sold on USC. I guess we’ll find out soon. Oregon State next, then ASU, Wazzu and Utah to give us a better feel for the Trojans.
Fresno State will be pesky this weekend but not enough.
41-34 USC
Eastern Michigan @ ASU – 8:00
Herm Edwards keeps rolling along and gets to 2-1 before opening conference play with Utah, USC, Washington then Stanford. Ouch.
37-17 ASU
North Dakota State @ Arizona – 8:00
It’s going to be double late-night duty in the state of Arizona. Both teams at home in the 8 PM slot. Remember how much smack North Dakota State fans talked a couple years back?
29-12 Arizona
