2026 On3 Industry 5-star Las Vegas (Nev.) Bishop Gorman safety Jett Washington has committed to Oregon. The 6-foot-4 1/2, 200-pound defensive back was one of multiple 5-star prospects that’s been on campus in Eugene for his Oregon official this month.

The newest Duck chose Oregon over top contenders like Alabama, USC, Ohio State and Texas A&M. He’s the No. 27 player nationally according to the On3 Industry ranking. The same system ranks him the No. 3 safety and the No. 1 prospect in the state of Nevada.

Washington was originally scheduled to take his official visit to Ohio State on June 6, but chose to move up his official visit with the Ducks for that weekend. The Las Vegas star took an official visit to Alabama earlier this month and was also on campus in Los Angeles to visit USC prior to seeing Oregon.

The culture Dan Lanning has instilled in the Big Ten Champs since his arrival in late 2021 was part of what made the Ducks so appealing for Washington.

“Really just their culture,” he said of what excites him in a previous interview with ScoopDuck. “Since Dan Lanning’s got there every single year they’ve had more draft picks and just a better record every single year. The fact they’re trending in the right direction.”

Washington was recognized as the MaxPreps Nevada High School Football Player of the Year and was named Bishop Gorman’s defensive MVP.

He’s the nephew of the late Kobe Bryant and is also a star basketball player on the hardwood. This past season the Oregon commit helped lead the Gaels to a Nevada State title.

Washington was one of Chris Hampton‘s top safety targets and he joins On3 Industry 4-star safety commit Xavier Lherisse in Oregon’s 2026 class.
