QUAAACK: Oregon Lands Boise State Punter James Ferguson-Reynolds

It was less than a week ago that Oregon head coach Dan Lanning shut down any chatter that the Ducks would pursue a linebacker in the transfer portal. In that same press conference he threw out the possibility of pursuing a punter in the transfer portal following a rocky day for special teams during the spring game.
Lo and behold on Thursday, the Ducks landed a commitment from former Boise State punter James Ferguson-Reynolds.
“Duck nation, I’m home,” Ferguson-Reynolds penned in a social media post on X.
The 6-foot-2, 180-pound Geelong, Australia native spent the last three years playing for Spencer Danielson and the Broncos.
In 2024 he played in 12 games and kicked 43 punts, averaging 43.5 yards per punt and pinned opponents inside the 20-yard line 16 times. He recorded three touchbacks, and had three punts of more than 50 yards, with a long of 68 yards.

Ferguson-Reynolds joins an Oregon specialist group that also features Ross James, making him one of two punters on the team after Luke Dunne transferred to Washington earlier this spring.
The former Boise State standout was a semifinalist for the Ray Guy award in 2023, which recognizes the most outstanding punter in college football. That same season he was an All-Mountain West first team selection and AFCA (American Football Coaches Association) second-team All-American.
He has one year of college eligibility remaining.
