Another big commitment for Oregon is in the books. And the Ducks were able to close on an offensive target they really weren’t looking great for a few weeks ago.

Mater Dei (Calif.) running back Jordon Davison announced his commitment to Oregon moments ago. The Ducks landed the four-star over Ohio State, Michigan and others.

Davison is the No. 96 ranked player in the On3 Industry Rankings. He is the No. 5 ranked running back nationally and joins Dierre Hill as the future of Oregon’s backfield.

Oregon’s new running back coach Ra’Shaad Samples had his work cut out for him recruiting Davison upon arrival. But credit coach Samples for getting it done in the month of June leaning heavily on the recent official visit.

Here is what Davison told ScoopDuck earlier about Oregon and getting to know coach Samples.

“He’s a good coach. He has a lot of experience. Especially coaching with the Rams at the highest level. I feel like he will get me better and he’s a good guy off the field too, just to be around.”

Oregon’s offense also appealed to Davison as he sees a fit as the ‘bigger back’ in the offense.

“One thing about Oregon, the running back is always gonna be featured in the offense,” he said. “Getting the ball to the running back is always a big key to me, especially getting it out of the backfield, catching the ball and running the ball. Oregon does that very well and I feel like I would fit in their offense.”
