QUACK: Oregon Lands Linebacker Jerry Mixon
Dan Lanning and his staff added another defensive piece to the class on Friday afternoon.
Sacred Heart Cathedral Prep (Calif.) linebacker Jerry Mixon announced his decision to commit to Oregon over UCLA and others.
The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder figures to be a key piece to the linebacker class for the Ducks. Mixon is currently the No. 762 ranked player in the On3 Consensus Rankings. However his stock has steadily rose this Spring and into the Summer.
Oregon now has 14 commits in the 2023 class. 10 of which are defensive commits.
The attention for Oregon fans now turns to Chandler (Ariz.) four-star defensive lineman A’Mauri Washington who confirmed with ScoopDuck he will be making his commitment on September 6.
ScoopDuck evaluator superstar, QB11, has a full breakdown on what Oregon is getting in Mixon. You can read the full eval by clicking on this link.
“At 6’2.5 with long arms and an evenly proportioned frame the 225 pounds Mixon currently carries very easily projects to 235+ after some time in a college weight room. Good length and excellent hip mobility are apparent when watching Mixon playing in coverage. For a big athlete, his ability to flip his hips and play in reverse is unusual.”
