It was pretty clear Oregon would be going after a tight end in the transfer portal after some misses in the 2025 class. Drew Mehringer didn’t waste any time and got right to work on several targets.

The transfer portal opened up with several big options immediately. But Oregon zeroed in on Louisville tight end Jamari Johnson. The former Inglewood (Calif.) standout was a big Oregon target coming out of high school as part of the 2023 class.

The 6-foot-5, 265-pounder committed to Oregon moments ago.

Last season Johnson recorded 13 catches for 158 yards and 1 touchdown. Those are not eye-popping numbers which might help you understand why Johnson might be looking to transfer. Additionally Oregon was looking for a specific style of tight end to compliment its current roster.
