Report: Oregon basketball hiring Chuck Martin as assistant coach
Dana Altman and the Oregon program have reportedly found their next assistant coach.
Altman will hire Chuck Martin to his staff, according to a report from CBS insider Jon Rothstein. Martin served as an assistant with South Carolina last season.
Martin has served as an assistant on South Carolina’s staff since 2017. Prior to that, he was an assistant at Indiana from 2014-17. Martin was a scout with the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2013-14.
His lone head coaching stint came at Marist, where he was at the helm of the program from 2008-13. Prior to that, Martin rose through the ranks as an assistant. He began his career at Manhattan, then went on to work at UMass (2000-2001), Drexel (2001-2004), St John’s (2004-2006), and Memphis (2006-2008).
At Memphis, he worked under John Callipari and helped lead the Tigers to the national title game in 2008.

According to 247Sports, Martin’s all-time top-rated recruit is Devin Carter, a former South Carolina standout who is currently in the transfer portal.
Carter recently listed Oregon as one of his final six schools.
Martin is filling a spot on Altman’s staff that was left by Chris Crutchfield, who was named the head coach at Omaha in March.
