On Monday Ohio State head coach Ryan Day met with media via teleconference with local and national media. The Rose bowl hosted a teleconference with both head coaches taking questions.

Ohio State and Oregon are locked in for a rematch in the Rose bowl on January 1. It’s the talk of college football today with the first match being one of (if not) the best games in college football this season.

Here is some of the top quotes from Ryan Day ahead of the game.

Opening Remarks:

“Our teams very excited about this opportunity in the Rose bowl. The tradition of the Rose bowl and the Big Ten is well documented. We understand that. This will be my third time going to the Rose bowl. Certainly a great opponent in Oregon. Looking forward to that, to the rematch.”

On Will Howard:

“Our challenge to Will going into the last game was he had to be the best leader on the field. I think he was. For Will trying to figure out how we’re attacking defenses is critical. It will be important to put together another good game plan and executing it.”

On the Run Game:

“I thought we got good double teams on the interior and our guys did a good job pulling. And our running backs ran well, with velocity. When you have weapons on the outside it certainly helps the run game. We’re always looking for balance. Nothing we did on Saturday will have anything to do with January 1.”

On Preparing for a Rematch:

“It’s about execution. It’s about our preparation. How we go about our meetings, our walk throughs. That way when we get out to Pasadena we’re playing at a high level. Both teams are in different places than we were last time. Our guys know what we’re up against. They know they’ve evolved and we’ve evolved.”

On Preparing for Oregon’s Pass Game:

“They have a good balance on offense. Gabriel is very talented and accurate and he’s also athletic. We’ve made adjustments coming off that game. We’ve worked hard. Our defense is playing with great confidence right now. You could feel that on Saturday.”
