ScoopDuck Predictions: ESPN GameDay Guest Picker
On Saturday Oregon will have a lot going on in Eugene. A big game. The ESPN Gameday crew. And yes, the esteemed Josh Pate is about to get his introduction to Pac-12 football.
By now you know each week we offer our predictions on four categories. With Tuesday being first and our score predictions. Well today we’ve added one more for the big week, predicting the ESPN Gameday guest picker.
Below you can see our predictions and why we made our picks.
Travis Rooke-ley: Sabrina Ionescu
Makes all the sense in the world. She’s in town, national name, personable and would do a great job. There are some other good names, and I know LaMichael is getting some buzz, but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t her.
Jarrid Denney: Ty Burrell
The star of Modern Family, among many other shows and films, Ty Burrell is a known Oregon Ducks super fan.
He’s a native of Grants Pass, Ore., and attended tthe University of Oregn before later transferring to Southern Oregon University. The emmy-winning actor was also the keynote speaker at the UofO’s graduation ceremony in 2021.
The two-time Emmy-winner is one of the university’s more well-known alums, and would absolutely kill it on the Gameday set.

Joel Gunderson: Sabrina Ionescu
It’s easy to connect the dots on this one. Sabrina has already stated she’ll be in town that weekend, and she is a fantastic ambassador for the university. Sabrina is also wonderful in front of the camera, although people have not had as much of an opportunity to see that as they should.

Justin Hopkins: Phil Knight
This probably isn’t the conventional move. Phil Knight, although tied close to Oregon actually does his best to try and sit in the shadows as much as possible. Which isn’t easy for a guy like Phil Knight to do.
Phil is a sports icon. He’s getting up there in age. He’s done so much for the sport. This might be his last chance to be the guest picker on Gameday. (Hopefully not) But I think there is a lot of reasons why it would be him. I will not be surprised one bit if it is Sabrina Ionescu, but I’m calling Phil.
