ScoopDuck Predictions: Oregon Offensive Players of the Game
Oregon will need some strong offensive output in Seattle this weekend. Which seems to be improving from week to week. Anthony Brown is playing better overall the offensive line is looking good, things are clicking.
Who will emerge this Saturday in Seattle? Well that’s a great question.
Below are the picks for Joel Gunderson, Jarrid Denney and myself.
Joel Gunderson: Devon Williams
I’ll beat this drum until it doesn’t work anymore. He’s the biggest difference-maker in the conference for his impact in transforming Oregon’s offense. Since his inclusion into the game plan starting two weeks ago at UCLA, the Ducks have looked like a completely different team. Anthony Brown has a new level of confidence as well with Williams’ emergence, evident by his second-quarter TD pass to Troy Franklin against Colorado, a pass he would not have attempted, let alone completed, a few weeks back. If Williams pits up another 5-catch, 95 yards, one-touchdown game, Oregon will roll.
Jarrid Denney: Travis Dye
Travis Dye’s numbers over the last two weeks have been absurd. During that time he has touched the ball 36 times and produced seven touchdowns. That’s nearly one touchdown every five times he carries or catches the ball. Although his workload has lightened a bit in recent weeks, he’s still a high-volume player who is scoring at an incredible clip.
This all goes to say: I think Dye is going to keep his production up and have a sensational game against Washington. The Huskies haven’t been good at stopping the run all season, and even when Oregon faces teams that are good at stopping the pass, Dye still always finds a way to rack up receiving yards. I wouldn’t be surprised if he exceeds 150 all-purpose yards.

Jhop: Byron Cardwell
I like the Dye pick by Denney but I think I’m going to roll with Cardwell this week. He was absolutely phenomenal last week, granted it was Colorado. But he’s a big (er) back with tons of wiggle and speed and doesn’t hesitate when he sees a crease.
I would expect Oregon to run the ball a lot. Both because of Washington’s defense and also because I think Mario Cristobal will want to establish physical dominance over them.
I’m riding the Cardwell train this week.
