It’s a big week for Duck fans. You get to feast on your favorite bird this week (obviously not Duck) and follow it up with the game formerly known as the Civil War.

Oregon and Oregon State will play one of the longest standing rivalry games in all of college football. And this year a spot in the conference championship is on the line for the Ducks. Which gives the Beavers just that much more energy to try and play spoiler.

As the two get ready for Saturday in Corvallis, we offer up our early predictions on the game. Check out our score predictions below.

Joel Gunderson: Oregon 23, OSU 21

What could have been for this showdown with a 100% healthy Bo Nix against a nasty Beavers defense. Alas, Oregon is hoping for a healthier Nix than they had against Utah, which will be a necessity. We saw just how limited Oregon’s run game is, specifically, without the threat of Nix scrambling; if OS loads the box as Utah did, the outcome will look the same.

This game could come down to perhaps the most overlooked improvement from Oregon all season: field goal kicking. After Dan Lanning (wisely) chose to kick two FGs against Utah, you get the sense he knows points are at a premium. And Oregon’s defense, (potentially) led more by Lanning, should be able to keep OS’s anemic passing game under wraps.

Another classic, down-to-the-wire, ugly game between these two, with Oregon narrowly locking down their fourth-straight P12 title game appearance.

Jarrid Denney: Oregon 24, OSU 21

Oregon will find a way to win this one, but just barely.

The Ducks are still dinged up and won’t have the luxury of playing at Autzen this time around. They’ll be up against an experienced Oregon State team that is incredibly physical on both sides of the ball.

This is probably a game that Oregon would lose last season.

But as we saw last week, the Ducks are capable of winning ugly when the situation calls for it. They’ll get the job done in Corvallis.

Corpatty: Oregon 27, OSU 24

This game is going to be an absolute war, a civil war if you will.  I expect Bo Nix to play but be similarly limited to the way he was in the Utah game.  So Oregon’s offense will once again be operating at less than maximum strength against a very good OSU defense.  But I think Kenny Dillingham will be able to scheme around it this week and Oregon will be able to move the ball much better than the second half last week.   Defensively I think Oregon’s stout run defense gives problems to the run-heavy Beaver offense, making them reliant on the arm of their freshman QB.   In the end the Ducks make enough plays to come out of Corvallis with a hard-fought win, sending them to Las Vegas.

Jhop: Oregon 34, OSU 24

I see I’m the lone wolf of optimism this week. But I don’t have a problem with the picks above. It makes sense and I’m expecting this to be a close game.

However, as you can see I have Oregon winning by 10. I think this one will be close at half, probably well into the third quarter. And I do think Oregon will wear them down and pull away. Does OSU step up to stop the run or do they try and avoid the big plays that were so deadly against Utah? This is the chess match in the game.

Bo Nix won’t be 100-percent. He might not even be 50-percent. But he’ll be better and I also think Dillingham will have all week to prepare his gameplan with Nix and his limitations. You’ll see a much more effective gameplan on Saturday in Corvallis.
