A regular season behind us leaves to some review. As you know this week we’ve had some big picture roundtables looking at this past season and offering up our thoughts.

The Ducks went 12-0 in the regular season, 13-0 with a conference championship and some huge wins along the way. I know the Ohio State game resonates with many, including myself. But was it Oregon’s biggest win this season?

Here are our thoughts.

Collin King: Ohio State

I really thought hard about putting the Boise State, or Washington games on this list, and the Penn State game certainly crossed my mind as well. Ohio State is the choice I went with in the end however, a game that really showed the nation that Oregon was a legit contender this season and a force to be reckoned with. If we want to be critical of the officials in this game an argument can certainly be made for Oregon winning this contest by more than a point. Regardless, this performance without Jordan Burch defensively and still holding two extremely good running backs under 100 total yards is a fantastic feat.

Linden Hile: Wisconsin

Others are likely to nominate Ohio State here and while I certainly agree, I’d like to highlight the Ducks’ win over Wisconsin in week 12 as a big one. Almost every other team in college football has folded in at least one similar situation this year but the Ducks, as battered and worn down as they were, found a way to win.

Max Torres: Ohio State

It’s hard to put any other game here. But if I had to, I’d say another big one was Wisconsin, because it was the last game on a brutal eight-game stretch and it was a battle on the road in the heart of Big Ten country. The Ducks needed absolutely everything in them to gut out the win. But the win over Ohio State was so big because Oregon went toe-to-toe with one of the most talented and storied programs in the country and showed the rest of college football that they’re the real deal. It’s also Dan Lanning’s signature win to date, which serves as massive validation of what he’s building in Eugene.

Jhop: Penn State

Winning the Big Ten conference in the first year is absolutely mind-blowing when you distance yourself from the game. I mean, it’s a really good conference and Oregon navigated the travel, a ridiculous 8-game stretch and still not only won, but went undefeated. I say Penn State because they threw the kitchen sink at Oregon. Broke all kinds of tendencies, gave Oregon all they had and still came up short. I bet this was one of the bigger reasons James Franklin was so upset post-game knowing he gave Oregon everything they had and it wasn’t enough.

But yes, the Ohio State win remains my favorite game experience at Autzen stadium to date.
