ScoopDuck Roundtable: Breakout Player vs Idaho

Roundtable No. 2 for the week is off and running. This one each week we’ll predict a breakout player for the game. Obviously naming Dillon Gabriel or Jordan James isn’t really a ‘breakout player’ by definition.

As we know Idaho should allow Oregon to showcase some of its depth and younger talent. Which means we will see a lot of guys for the first time.

Here are our predictions for breakout players this weekend.

Linden Hile: Kenyon Sadiq

In a game where practically Oregon’s entire roster has a realistic chance to see the field, there are any number of candidates to have a breakout game.

My money says tight end Kenyon Sadiq will be featured in the second half as Dan Lanning & Co. will want to keep starters Terrance Ferguson and Patrick Herbert as healthy as possible.

Don’t be surprised if he’s featured in the red zone, has a few nice plays downfield, and gets in the end zone at some point to start off 2024 hot.

Max Torres: Charlie Pickard

There’s been a lot of talk about Pickard in recent weeks given the injury to Matthew Bedford. After hearing both staff and players alike rave about his work ethic and ability I think he’ll turn in a performance that catches some attention whether he’s snapping at center or holding down one of the two guard spots.

Collin King: Teitum Tuioti

Teitum had a pretty solid freshman season last year at Oregon, and will likely see more playing time this season.Tuioti showed out against Texas Tech, Oregon State, Utah, and Colorado last year, and I anticipate that he will do the same against Idaho. I wasn’t the biggest believer in Tuioti’s game immediately out of high school, but what he flashed last season definitely makes me think he could be a key player against the Vandals.

Jhop: Brandon Johnson

My belief is that Idaho will be behind early and throughout the entire game. Which means they’ll probably end up throwing the ball a little more than they normally would. Nobody will throw at Jabbar Muhammad if they are smart and were not quite sure who CB2 will be just yet. So my bet is Brandon Johnson is able to pounce on some of those floaters tossed up after seeing pressure.
