ScoopDuck Roundtable: Clemson at Texas
Well game No.3 of the college football playoff figures to be an interesting one. Texas draws a home game with Clemson in Austin. Steve Sarkisian and his squad just missed the first round byes coming in as the No. 5 team in the playoffs.
This one is set for 1:00 PST on Saturday. It’s the third game of the playoffs. But it doesn’t look like Vegas thinks Clemson has much of a shot with a 12-point spread.
Here is how we see it playing out.
Max Torres: Texas 30-17
Texas has one of the most talented rosters in the country and I think they’ll win this game. But Dabo Swinney has been to the playoff before and that experience is valuable. I don’t think Clemson has the depth to match up across the board with the Longhorns but this game may be closer than some might expect.
Collin King: Texas 27-17
Both of these teams are tough to pick as well, and have both looked pretty lackluster at times this year. In the end I believe Texas’ defense will be too much for the Clemson offense which has already lost a few pieces, and think that Texas can take advantage of some holes in the Clemson defense as well.

Linden Hile: Texas 27-21
Have you noticed a trend with these first-round games? Every spread is over a touchdown.
It’s almost like we didn’t need eight more teams in the dance. Texas is better than Clemson in every way and while the Tigers’ big-game pedigree is a little more developed, it shouldn’t matter here.
I think this game looks more like Clemson’s matchup with Georgia in week one than any other game they’ve played. Give me Texas to win relatively smoothly.
Jhop: Texas 34-21
I don’t expect this one to be much of a game. And apparently neither does Vegas as Clemson is a 12-point underdog. A home game for Texas is going to be a big boost for the Horns. If it were in Clemson I think the game would be a bit closer. But it’s not and I think Sarkisian moves on.
