ScoopDuck Roundtable: Opposing Player Most Concerned With

Oregon will host Washington this weekend and I’m expecting it to be a tough battle. We know both sides will have total motivation in this historic rivalry game. It’s a rivalry game so no matter what the records are, all bets are off the table.
Washington does have some talented players on its roster. And it will be important for Oregon to key in on them this weekend. If Oregon can get the crowd going early behind them it will be a big help to the team.
Here are the players from Washington we think Oregon fans will want to keep tabs on.
Max Torres: LB Carson Bruener
Bruener isn’t necessarily a game-wrecker type of talent, but he does just about everything really well, and that makes him a major asset to the Washington defense. He’s a guy that rallies the troops as the general for Steve Belicheck’s defense and with how Gabriel and Ducks like to work the intermediate routes over the middle of the field, he’ll be one to keep an eye on in both the run and pass game.
Collin King: WR Denzel Boston
Boston is the statistical leader in receiver yards for the Huskies this season, and is likely their biggest threat to Oregon’s defense. I’d expect the pass coverage to hold strong against Boston but he is their most skilled player on offense. Jonah Coleman was another name that came to mind but Oregon has been very good against the run aside from the Boise State game.

Linden Hile: RB Jonah Coleman
Washington running back Jonah Coleman has had a nice year for himself, currently sitting at 1,008 rushing yards on just 173 attempts. Oregon was gashed early in the year by Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty and if Coleman has an even remotely similar performance, it could be trouble.
A strong rushing performance from the Huskies would extend drives and force the Ducks’ defense into situations like it was in against Wisconsin with drives lasting double-digit plays in some cases. This would set up a game-script in which Oregon has far less breathing room than it would like.
Jhop: RB Jonah Coleman
You heard Lanning single out Coleman in his Monday night presser. Noting he’s one of the best backs they’ll face since Ashton Jeanty. Oregon has not had trouble stopping the run this season and I don’t expect they will Saturday. Still it’s going to be a key for UW to get the run game going if they want to have a chance against Oregon. Take out Coleman and I think you are cutting off the head of the snake.
