ScoopDuck Roundtable: Rose Bowl Score Predictions

We are down to your favorite roundtable each week with us predicting the score for the upcoming game. And this week we get to predict how Oregon fares in the Granddaddy of them all. Can the Ducks pull off two wins vs Ohio State in a single season?
That’s the goal anyways.
This one is being widely talked about so let’s give our score predictions and see who you agree with.
Collin King: Oregon 35-31
I believe that Oregon will prevail in a scenario that is eerily similar to the Oregon vs Washington games last season. Last year Oregon looked like the better team the rest of the season following the loss @ UW and then would end up losing again (sorry for the reminder). It feels like Ohio State is getting incredibly hyped up now as this juggernaut of a team, despite losing to a team with an incompetent passing attack just a few weeks ago…AT HOME.
Max Torres: Oregon 38-31
This game was incredibly close the first time around. Both teams caught some breaks, but I think the Ducks overpower the Buckeyes in this rematch. They’re at near full health and will add Jordan Burch back to a defensive front that should be able to record multiple sacks against a banged up offensive line. The Ducks are the fresher team and they have the better quarterback. If they establish the run on offense, limit explosive plays on defense and win the turnover battle, they should be able to emerge victorious.

Linden Hile: Ohio State 27-24
I don’t think we get quite the explosive offensive game we got earlier in the season and I tend to think that favors Ohio State. Its defense is first in the nation in PPG allowed as well as YDS/G allowed while Oregon’s is 13th and 11th, respectively.
As I alluded to in my opposing player and surprise storyline segments, Ohio State also holds an edge in running back depth meaning they’re likely more equipped to win a slugfest against Oregon. I think Ryan Day will want this game to be played more on the Buckeyes’ terms than the first time and I believe that leads to a razor-close Ohio State win.
Jhop: Oregon 37-30
If you read my roundtable on the surprise storyline then I’m predicting Oregon to get up early and hold a lead at half. If that is the case we could see Oregon running out the game in the second half trying to preserve the lead but not getting too conservative. Ohio State will make a run but the Ducks will hold out for the win and there will be questions about Ryan Day winning the big games.
