ScoopDuck Roundtable: Score Predictions vs Illinois

We have hit the halfway point of the week, also known as hump day. Which does mean we are ready to give you our score predictions for this weekend.
The Ducks host a very tough No. 20 ranked Illinois in a matchup that might not be getting enough national discussion. I guess that might be because Oregon is favored by three touchdowns in this one.
In any event here are our score predictions as always for this intriguing B1G matchup in Eugene.
Max Torres: Oregon 38 – 10
Oregon defeated Purdue 35-0 last week but I think it could’ve been more ugly than that, especially if they didn’t stall a few times in the third quarter. Illinois is respectable on both sides of the ball, but I really like the Ducks at home. Illinois only put up 7 on Penn State, which is the best opponent they’ve faced all year. Oregon’s defense is pretty close to Penn State from a statistical standpoint, and I think Oregon’s ability to pressure the quarterback and force turnovers makes this a long night for Luke Altmyer.
Collin King: Oregon 45 – 20
Some will say that Illinois is going to beat Oregon and I’m just not buying it, I am not scared of this Illinois offense and am even less impressed with the Illinois defense. The team that Oregon just allowed a donut to put up 49 against this Illinois defense, that should be telling.

Linden Hile: Oregon 35 – 20
My prediction is that Oregon fans get a game in which the final score is closer than the game itself. Illinois is a scrappy team that I wouldn’t bet against posting a garbage-time touchdown once the Ducks have put away the game.
The way I see it, Oregon goes up something like 35-10 before pulling starters while Illinois continues to fight and puts up a late score or two. In this respect I have the Ducks winning but coming shy of covering the current spread of 21.5.
Jhop: Oregon 41 – 21
I think Illinois is going to look to take some chances in this one. Which will lead to a couple of big plays but also a couple of big turnovers. So really it will be a net even. The Ducks will get up early and I think we’ll have a chance to see some more of the backups late in the third quarter and into the fourth quarter.
Oregon doesn’t need style points. They don’t need to cover the spread. They just need to win.
