ScoopDuck Roundtable: Score Predictions vs Maryland
It’s Wednesday and we have your favorite roundtable of the week. It’s time for us to predict the scores for this coming weekends contest with Maryland.
This is the first time these two teams have ever met. It certainly won’t be the last as they are now conference opponents.
As we know the Terrapins have a lot of firepower on offense but have a lot of trouble keeping the opponent out of the endzone. This should likely be a lop-sided game in Eugene but here are our score predictions until we see it.
Collin King: Oregon 41-13
I really don’t see much outside of Maryland WR Tai Felton posing a threat to the Ducks defense. For that reason I’m projecting another low scoring game for Oregon’s opponent. I believe Autzen Stadium will also play a key factor in Maryland’s success to do much of anything offensively. As I’ve said prior, Oregon has shown me zero reason to doubt them against inferior opponents at home. Traeshon Holden will play a bigger role this week, and believe he is ready for that with a big game against an average secondary at best.
Max Torres: Oregon 45-21
I think we all expect the Ducks to win, it’s just a matter of margin. Maryland’s opponents are averaging 27.75 points per game, which means its defense is the weak link. We know they like to pass the ball and have some good playmakers, but I don’t see the Terps keeping up with the Ducks as this game wears on. I see a big day for Oregon’s offense and the defense forces some turnovers as Maryland’s aggressiveness costs them.

While it would be surprising to see the Ducks win in a game of the exact same score as last week, that’s about how this one shapes up in my mind. The offense certainly faces an easier task than it did against Michigan but Tez Johnson will almost certainly be out this week and I could see Oregon rolling out a scaled-down game plan against a relatively inferior opponent.
The defense should have little problem containing a Maryland offense that’s been fine but nothing special and now has to travel across the country to play one of college football’s best defenses at Autzen Stadium. I think, like in weeks past, Oregon shoots out to an early lead and Maryland hits a garbage-time touchdown to make this one look closer than it was.
Jhop: Oregon 51-14
What? A 50-burger for the Ducks? Yeah I think we’re getting one this weekend. The Ducks offense is rolling and Maryland gives up a lot of points. What makes Oregon tough for a team like Maryland is the balance. The Ducks should have no problem moving the ball as long as they stay patient and take chances when they present themselves. Meanwhile Maryland can really throw the ball but a one-dimensional offense doesn’t tend to be a big problem for this Oregon defense.
