ScoopDuck Roundtable: Surprise Storyline vs Boise State

Beginning to flip the page on the first week, we look to Boise State. The Ducks will host the Broncos in what should be a blow out win for Oregon. But then again Idaho should have been a blowout win as well.

We had some surprise storylines from the first week, several of which were not positive. We are hoping for some better ones this week and here are our predictions on those storylines.

Max Torres: Oregon Offensive line bounces back in a big way

It may not be a surprise but I think the offensive line bounces back. And with some style and flair. Establish the run game early and don’t look back. Even though Boise State is a tougher opponent than Idaho I think the Ducks will grow from a rough opener. There’s a lot of talent in that room and they’re going to be fired up. And I have faith in A’lique Terry getting the group right this week.

Collin King: Tyler Turner gets the nod again this week

It was a bit of a shock to Duck fans when senior Tysheem Johnson wasn’t in the game against the Vandals, another twist was that it was Tyler Turner as the backup and not Freshman Aaron Flowers or a veteran player. Tyler Turner played himself a strong game and could be a useful player again this week for Oregon.

Linden Hile: Offensive Line Rebounds

I think the overall bounceback from Oregon Football will be significant this week but let’s unpack it a little more.

I expect the offensive line to get its act together over the course of the week and leave Saturday with fans feeling like it’s a strength of this team.

I expect Ajani Cornelius to improve from the Idaho game, as well as Iapani Laloulu to impose his will in the run game.

I’m not concerned about coach A’Lique Terry’s ability to develop this group and I think we’ll see its first good outing of 2024 this weekend.

Jhop: Passing Game Erupts

Despite Dillon Gabriel piling up the passing yards, it never really felt like the pass game got truly going. It was a number of things I’ve outlined pretty much all starting with the offensive line. That group will be better, Gabriel will have more confidence and the explosive plays will return. Oregon needs this to happen to put a lot of Duck fans at ease.
