ScoopDuck Roundtable: Surprise Storyline vs Idaho

Our first game week roundtable is upon us. And I couldn’t be happier to get these put together for our readers.

Up first this week against Idaho we go over our surprise storylines for this contest. Yes we know it’s Idaho but I promise these will be more interesting as the stakes are higher.

But with that in mind here is roundtable No. 1 for the game week vs Idaho.

Max Torres: Three takeaways for Ducks Defense

While it’s easy to get excited about how many points Oregon will hang on the scoreboard Saturday, I’m almost more interested in how many times they’ll take the ball away. There’s a ridiculous collection of talent on this Dan Lanning/Tosh Lupoi defense both in the trenches and in the secondary. I’ll say two interceptions and a fumble.

Linden Hile: Kicking Game

While most will focus on the two major departments of football this Saturday, keep an eye on Oregon’s kicking game.

We saw just two days ago the effect kicking can have on a game.

Coming off a year where kicking gave Oregon trouble at times, look for transfer kicker Atticus Sappington to have a sharp outing in what should be a relative tune-up game for the Ducks.

Collin King: Jordan James isn’t Oregon’s best back (in this game)

This may be a bit of a shock but I think due to the score differential that Noah Whittington in his first game back from a season-ending injury, will be Oregon’s best running back. I think Whittington along with Limar will rush for close to 130 yards combined and 2 TDs. If Whittington is able to return to form, Oregon will have even more offensive firepower going into the B10 slate.

Jhop: Dante Moore Steals the Show

I get the feeling that Oregon will look to work in at least three of its quarterbacks into the game on Saturday. Dillon Gabriel should be able to take an early exit from the game, hopefully before half or just after. That means Dante Moore should have a shot to run at least a few drives, likely a lot of handoffs, but Oregon will give him the green light to stretch his arm a bit. And I get the sense Oregon fans will head home feeling really good about its backup quarterback situation.
