It’s a late Monday night but even with all of the coverage so far, we have one more to close out the day. Our first roundtable of the week is the same every Monday, where we predict a surprise storyline from this weeks game.

It’s the first time in a long time Oregon will face Penn State. It’s also quite a surprise given everyone had Ohio State written in as the Big Ten champions before the season began and for a good portion of the season.

Max Torres: Oregon snags multiple interceptions

Drew Allar has an 18-5 touchdown to interception ratio and hasn’t thrown an interception since the Nittany Lions played Ohio State in November. But Oregon has what is probably the best defensive front in college football and I think they’ll create enough pressure to force some mistakes.

Collin King: Oregon limits Tyler Warren

Hardly anyone has been able to stop Penn State TE Tyler Warren, and while I don’t think Oregon has a good enough individual player to cover him, they’ll potentially bracket another man to be close by. Warren has had games like against West Virginia, Illinois, and Ohio State where he doesn’t make a major impact. He also has games where he absolutely takes over, like against USC, Purdue, Minnesota, Bowling Green, and Washington.

Linden Hile: Oregon the More Physical Team

The notion that Oregon’s not physical enough for the Big Ten has been almost completely dispelled at this point but winning the conference over one of its blue bloods would go a step further. Penn State is known as one of the grittiest teams in the league with its power run game and stout defense but I think the Ducks come out and win the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball.

Having a relatively recent bye week should help in this endeavor as the team looked far fresher against Washington than it did two weeks prior in Wisconsin. The defense racked up 10 sacks against the Huskies and held running back Jonah Coleman to two yards rushing so I’m calling for a tough, resilient performance from the team as a whole.

Jhop: Dillon Gabriel Erupts for 350+ yards

The passing game for Oregon has been a bit sluggish the last few weeks. Especially when it comes to the deep ball. I think Oregon will look to get that going for multiple reasons. One of which is Tez shaking off the rust last week. Another is this is a great way to beat Penn State who I think will creep up to the line of scrimmage to try and stop the run. Look for Dillon Gabriel to have a big game on the big stage as he makes a Heisman push.
