ScoopDuck Roundtable: Surprise Storyline vs Wisconsin
We are just getting started with the roundups this week but our first one is always entertaining. In this edition we try and predict a surprise storyline that will unfold this weekend. It’s not always easy but a lot of times the answer is in there somewhere.
Here are this weeks picks from the ScoopDuck group.
Linden Hile: Passing Game Turns Up
After a game in which Oregon passed for just 183 yards, I think the aerial attack bounces back against Wisconsin. With running back Jordan James’ status up in the air and a lack of proven depth behind Noah Whittington, I think it will be imperative that the Ducks are able to pass downfield to overcome a potentially limited rushing game.
Maryland did a good job containing Oregon’s perimeter weapons as no receiver had over 55 yards in the contest but I think that reverses this week. Look for bigger games from receiver Traeshon Holden as well as tight ends Terrance Ferguson and Kenyon Sadiq.
Max Torres: An Oregon backup quarterback plays
Wisconsin let Iowa hang 42 on them a few weeks ago. Yes the Badgers are coming off of a bye week but I just don’t think this is a very good team. The Ducks’ offense should be more settled in now that they have a game without Marcus Harper and Tez Johnson under their belt. I think they build enough of a lead where Dan Lanning and Will Stein feel comfortable putting one of either Dante Moore or Austin Novosad. Despite Oregon’s dominance and margin of victory this season, neither player has gotten many reps, so this week feels like a great opportunity for that.

Collin King: Oregon offense not as prolific again without Tez Johnson
Look, Wisconsin has a very solid defense. We saw against a very subpar defense, granted with an extra week of prep, that Oregon struggled. Wisconsin is 37th opponent points per game, 31st in opponent yards per game, and has a very strong secondary. Opponents are only passing 43.11% against the Badgers defense, which is the 29th lowest in the country. Opponents also attempt the 9th fewest passes and get the 8th fewest passing yards per game. This defense is legit, especially in the secondary and could cause some big problems for Oregon. If Wisconsin was any better at getting to the QB, I’d be incredibly worried for this game, instead of unsure like I am.
Jhop: Ducks Escape Madison with Narrow Win
I said it on the podcast Sunday and I think it’s going to be true. Oregon is going to be a double-digit favorite in every game moving forward but each team they play is coming off a bye. Wisconsin will pour all of its resources into preparing for Oregon in front of a hostile home crowd. The name of the game is just win baby, but Oregon will have its hands full this weekend but do escape with the win.
