Dan Lanning has cast a net far and wide in recruiting. And that includes even hitting the upper Northeast area looking for the top players in the area.

This weekend, an unofficial ‘Junior Day’ of sorts, Oregon will host a big group of visitors. Including three players that currently attend St. Frances Academy in Baltimore.

With an assist from Sean Fitz of our PennStateOn3 site, we were able to confirm all three players plan to visit Oregon this weekend.

Cornerback – Ify Obedigwu

6-foot, 190-pounds

Obedigwu is the No. 163 ranked player in the On3 Consensus Rankings. He’s the No. 15 ranked cornerback nationally. Maryland currently holds the slight edge in the On3 RPM, with Penn State just 4% behind them.

Obedigwu has nearly every major national offer and is one of the most coveted cornerback prospects in the country.

Quarterback – Michael Van Buren

5-foot-11, 185-pounds

Van Buren is the No. 67 ranked player in the On3 Consensus Rankings. He’s the No. 7 ranked quarterback nationally. Penn State currently holds the edge in the On3 RPM with Oregon trailing the Nittany Lions.

Van Buren has visited Oregon previously. And it’s clear there is mutual interest between the two sides. New Oregon OC Will Stein has established a relationship with Van Buren since his arrival but this will be his first chance to meet him in person.

Running Back – DeJuan Williams

5-foot-10, 195-pounds

Williams is the No. 232 ranked player nationally in the On3 Consensus Rankings. He’s the No. 20 ranked running back nationally. Currently Penn State holds a major lead in his On3 RPM predictions.

This will be the first trip out to Eugene for Williams. While Oregon has a deep running back room currently, 2024 will likely be a cycle where the Ducks try to land two backs.
