Oregon defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi met with media Friday afternoon as the Ducks get ready for Ohio State in the Rose bowl. He was asked an array of questions about Oregon getting ready for the rematch and the long layoff.

Here are some of his top answers and the video included below.

On Run game changes:

“Not a whole lot. They did a good job at times just out-executing us. Always gonna look at what can we do better starting with me.”

On the Defense:

“I’m just proud of the group. How they’ve responded every week. How they’ve improved. But don’t spend a lot of time on how proud we are. We want to continue that trend of being a dominant defense.”

On having Jordan Burch:

“We’re not going to prepare any differently based on what personnel is available. Didn’t have him last time, glad to have him this time. We feel like we got an elite advantage while our opponent was prepping and played another opponent.”

On Seeing an Opponent a 2nd time:

“The best thing we can do is to attempt to strengthen the things we did well at. Be curious about the things we need to improve including me. They’re a good offense, respect Chip a lot, from a schematic standpoint. The way they attacked Tennessee is different than the way they attacked us.”

On Kingston Lopa playing:

“It’s a great example of a young man that continues the process of improving every week. He instilled the confidence in his teammates and coaches he’s ready to contribute.”

On prepping w/ a long layoff:

“The way we practice. We had a very physical week last week. Practicing mechanics. Tackling in space. It’s how we practice, how we prepare. We have to continue that trend this week.”

On Pressuring QB:

“I think it’s always going to be important with a successful team with the weapons they have. We felt like last time we played them it was a goal of ours was to effect him. We want to mentally and physically assault him within the rules of the game.”

On Bye Week Advantage:

“I think we’ll be able to better answer that in the evening of January 1.”
