Watch: Oregon's Bo Nix discusses Heisman hype, preparations for Washington
Over the past several weeks, the Heisman buzz surrounding Oregon senior quarterback Bo Nix has been gaining momentum.
Nix, who delivered a five-touchdown performance in the Ducks’ win over Colorado last Saturday, has catapulted up Heisman hot boards recently. He leads the nation with 36 touchdowns — 22 passing, 13 rushing, and one receiving.
Nix ranks 19th in the nation with 2,495 passing yards, and his 13 rushing touchdowns are the most among all Power Five quarterbacks.
On Saturday, he will have a major opportunity to add to his resume when he and the Np. 6 Ducks host No. 23 Washington in a rivalry showdown at Autzen Stadium in Eugene. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. PT kickoff and will air on FOX.
On Tuesday, Nix met with reporters and was asked about his Heisman candidacy, and whether he believes he is one of the best players in the country through the first 10 weeks of the season.
“I think our offense is one of the best in the country. I think when you look at what we’re doing offensively, everybody touches the ball almost,” Nix said. “There are countless people who have a touchdown. Our O-line is probably the best in the country. (Offensive coordinator Kenny Dillingham) is probably calling it as good as anybody in the country. I think he’s just in a very good rhythm, very smart, and puts us in great situations.

“I think if you take me out of the equation, our offense as a whole — I mean, we’re so dynamic and guys are doing so many different things. You can’t really just say it’s me because you’ve got guys running touchdowns. You’ve got guys catching touchdowns. I literally think my job is kind of the easiest because I get to get those guys the ball and they do the work for me. I’m fortunate to be on an explosive offense like this.”
After struggling through a couple of up-and-down years at Auburn, Nix has changed the nation’s perception of his play during his first season in Eugene. According to Vegas Insider, he currently has the seventh-best Heisman odds of any player in college football.
On Tuesday, it was pointed out to Nix that some national writers have recently penned columns “apologizing” to the quarterback for being critical of him early in the season. When asked if that does anything, Nix chose his words carefully before responding.
“This is the thing about college football: sometimes, you obviously don’t get to see what guys can do until a little later,” Nix said. “Some guys start a little sooner, some guys a little later. I think that’s a tough question; I’m in such a good position. … It’s tough. That’s tough. I don’t really want to comment a whole lot about it, because that’s how you get in trouble.”
