Week Seven: Pac-12 Power Rankings

Last week I debuted my personal Pac-12 power rankings. You can review them here.
But what a difference a week makes. There were a number of upsets in the conference this week which really shakes things up. Both at the top and bottom half of the rankings.
Oregon gets a bump. USC drops. And Cal, well that was a really bad loss.
Here are my week seven rankings.
- UCLA – Last week I called USC and UCLA 1A and 1B. It’s no longer the same. The Bruins have not suffered a loss yet but do play the No. 2 team this weekend. So once again, we could see a change at the top for a second straight week.
- Oregon – I had Oregon at No. 3 and with the USC loss I have the Ducks ahead of the Trojans now. With 1 and 2 squaring off we will likely once again have some movement at the top.
- Utah – Last week I had them at 4 but with the win over USC, I’m moving them ahead of the Trojans for now despite having one more loss.
- USC – Still a really good team with a single loss. The Trojans do have a very favorable schedule the rest of the way however, outside of the game with UCLA in a few weeks. A second loss however, more than likely keeps them from the conference championship.
- Oregon State – I had Oregon State at 6, a spot behind Washington State. Whom they just beat this weekend. So now the Beavs, who continue to be up and down this season, find themselves in the mix at 5.
- Washington – The Huskies pulled out another win this week. It was over Arizona, so not a massive win. But still, they get the W they need. For now this moves them up a spot.
- Washington State – I am semi-surprised the Cougs lost to Oregon State but not totally. The two teams are fairly even matched. It will be interesting to see the movement in these middle spots the next few weeks.
- Arizona – I’m moving them up a spot despite the loss to Washington. Simply because Cal should never have lost to Colorado of all people.
- Cal – Was 8 last week, moved them down to 9. They have the Huskies this week so it might be two losses in a row.
- Arizona State – Bye last week so not much doing for the Sun Devils.
- Stanford – They beat Notre Dame but that certainly isn’t the win it used to be. It’s also not a conference win as the Cardinal are 0-4 in conference play.
- Colorado – Good job winning. But you’re still 1-5 on the season.
