Where Oregon's 2023 class ranks on eve of National Signing Day
National Signing Day is nearly upon us, folks.
On Wednesday, the early signing period begins and countless 2023 recruits throughout the country will officially sign national letters of intent.
With NSD less than 24 hours away, Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks find themselves in an interesting position. The Ducks got a massive boost over the weekend when star quarterback Bo Nix announced that he will return for the 2023 season.
That news, however, was juxtaposed with Dante Moore‘s announcement that he has flipped from Oregon to UCLA. Moore, a 5-star recruit who is the No. 4 quarterback and the No. 9 overall prospect in the country according to the On3 Consensus, was previously Oregon’s top-ranked commit.
His decision to de-commit, of course, hurt Oregon from a recruiting rankings standpoint.
The Ducks were on the fringes of the On3 Consensus team rankings top-10. But following Moore’s de-commitment, they have dropped to No. 14.
As of Tuesday morning, Oregon holds commitments from 24 players. Of those 24, wide receiver Jurrion Dickey, the No. 22 overall player in the On3 Consensus, is the Ducks’ lone 5-star.
Oregon also holds commitments from 11 players who are 4-stars and 10 who are 3-stars.
The Ducks are still in the mix for a handful of blue-chip prospects, and Wednesday will bring no shortage of storylines.

On3 Team Rankings, powered by the On3 Consensus
The On3 Consensus is a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services. Created by the authors of the Composite, the On3 Consensus is the most advanced, complete, and unbiased rating and ranking measurement in the industry.
+ The On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking is the only ranking that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies: On3, 247Sports, Rivals.com and ESPN.
+ The On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking is the only ranking that equally weights the four major media companies at 25%. Other industry composite ratings disproportionately weight their own rating.
+ The On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking solves the problem of varying class sizes during the recruiting cycle. It compiles the highest-rated commits for each team up to a total based on a rolling average of current total commitments among Power 5 schools.
With this model, there are no bonus points for having more commitments than other teams and only small deductions occur when a team has fewer commitments than the rolling average. Unlike distribution (bell) curves, this model doesn’t disproportionately weight a team’s top three or four highest rated commits and is a more accurate representation of an entire class.
