Where Oregon sits in 2024 team rankings following latest 5-star commitment
Coming into this weekend, Oregon already owned its best signing class in program history. On Saturday, it got even better.
Gatlin Bair, a 5-star receiver from Burley, Idaho announced that he has committed to Oregon. He chose the Ducks over Michigan, among many other blue-blood programs.
Bair is the first 5-star to commit to Oregon during the current cycle. He is UO’s highest-rated recruit at No. 30 overall. He is also the Ducks’ fourth four-star receiver in the class, along with Jeremiah McClelan, Ryan Pellum, and Dillon Gresham. They have also signed 3-star receiver Jack Ressler.

Previously, the Ducks owned a score of 93.00.
“It’s just an everyday approach. And I think we’ve got a staff that’s been doing this for a while and recognizes it’s not about the short term. It’s about being able to do something every single day and focus on the long-term goals,” Dan Lanning said in December what has made Oregon so successful on the recruiting trail recently. “These guys that we’re going to get are guys that we think can really enhance what we’ve built and already established here. So having guys that are open to being in Oregon and realize what Oregon can be, and then having a staff that’s going to work to go get those guys.”

Gatlin Bair scouting report
“One of the top overall athletes in the 2024 cycle who is the nation’s fastest football prospect on the track. Has unverified size, listed at around 6-foot-2, 180 pounds. Looks like the nation’s fastest football prospect during his junior track season. Consistently ran scintillating times. Won the state title in the 100 and 200 meters with remarkable 10.15-second and 20.56-second marks. Transfers that top-end speed to the gridiron. Shows the ability to blow by corners as a deep threat on vertical routes.
“Also flashes speed after the catch with the ball in his hands. Eliminates angles and beats defenders to the edge. Also a dangerous return man. Works on the outside and over the middle of the field. Can track the ball over his shoulder. Finished his junior season with 73 catches for 1,073 yards and 18 touchdowns. Shows considerable twitch and bounce on the basketball court and his above-the-rim athleticism shows on alley-oops and dunks in transition.
“Can improve his fluidity and polish as a route-runner as well as his comfort as a pass catcher. Averaged 14.7 yards per catch, which is on the low end among blue-chip receivers and top draft picks, especially considering his weaker-than-average competition. Reportedly plans to take an LDS mission following high school, postponing his college enrollment for two years”
