Alex Limoges, former Penn State star, signs new NHL deal
The Penn State men’s hockey program has delivered another NHL product. Announced this week, Alex Limoges has signed a one-year, entry-level contract with the Winnipeg Jets.
With the deal, Limoges will enter his second season of professional hockey after leaving Penn State following his senior season year during the 2020-21 campaign. And, in the process, he becomes the Nittany Lions’ 11th player in program history to cement an NHL contract.
Limoges celebrated the news with a series of tweets on Thursday evening:
“Unbelievably excited to be a Jet! Honored and ready to get to work. A huge thank you to everyone who has helped me along my journey,” Limoges wrote.
At Penn State, that journey included one of the most decorated careers in the program’s history.
His 50 points and 23 goals during his sophomore season are single-season records at Penn State that remain in place. Meanwhile, in a career that spanned 128 games, Limoges’ 125 career points are third, as are his 51 career goals. And, in Big Ten Tournament action, his 17 career points in 10 games are a conference record.

After wrapping his career with the Nittany Lions, Limoges spent the past year with the San Diego Gulls of the American Hockey League. While there, he produced a rookie record for the franchise with 23 goals.
Congratulated by the franchise for his signing to Winnipeg, Limoges similarly thanked the Gulls.
“San Diego will always hold a special place in my heart,” Limoges wrote. “Thank you to the organization and staff – I loved getting to know you all. A big thank you to all the fans for everything throughout my time there!”
Limoges finished his stint in the AHL with 35 goals and 29 assists (64 total points) in 90 career games. He also notched an AHL Player of the Week nod in March.
