Penn State news, notes, and updates for April 8 include a ranking of college football’s best stadiums, headlines of the day, and more.

It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with a ranking of the top college football stadiums. The Athletic’s Jayna Bardahl conducted a fan vote bracket, and Penn State’s Beaver Stadium finished first. It edged out LSU’s Tiger Stadium in the final voting session after beating Michigan Stadium, Virginia Tech’s Lane Stadium, and Notre Dame Stadium in earlier rounds.

“Beaver Stadium’s White Out sealed the deal, with voters calling the tradition “chilling,” “unparalleled” and “the best show in all of college football.” Still, this result feels like one of those games where the final score isn’t telling of how close it was.” Bardahl writes. “Some voters took this hypothetical matchup to OT, where Happy Valley outlasted Death Valley. Here are a couple of the voters’ favorite memories of Beaver Stadium:

–“I was there for the kick-six against OSU, but in a lesser game against Illinois a couple years earlier, Illinois lined up to kick a game-winning FG to the student section. We all smushed the student section to the “S” zone (I was so smushed my feet weren’t even touching the ground), the kick was up and banged off the crossbar for the PSU win. Almost every game is treated like a championship, it’s incredible.”

–“I was a student for the first-ever Paternoville. Camping out as Woody Paige and Cold Pizza arrived while playing drums on the garbage cans at all hours of the night. It’s the camaraderie more than anything. Everyone is living and breathing Blue and White for those 60 minutes ticking off the clock.”

Quote of the day

“Penn State is an excellent program with an incredible history. Beaver Stadium is one of the best atmospheres in college football and they have an incredible fan base! I am very excited about their new offense! I’ve been able to develop a great relationship with Coach Franklin, Coach Kotelnicki and Coach O’Brien. I think that I’d be a good fit in what they do offensively because I can play on time and on schedule, but I can create when I need to as well.

“They are one of my top schools at this point.”
