Penn State improved to 4-0 Saturday night with a convincing win over an Illinois squad that came into the game ranked 19th in the Associated Press Poll. Even with the loss, the Fighting Illini remain ranked in both polls, coming in at No. 25 in the Coaches Poll and No. 24 in the AP Poll. That could prove to be vital for Penn State’s College Football Playoff resume.

“Overall, I’m really, really happy with our guys,” said Penn State head coach James Franklin after the game. “That is a good football team. You’ve got to give Illinois and Coach [Bret] Bielema a ton of respect. That game really played out for a long time the way Illinois wants the game to go. They want one-possession games. They want to keep it tight.”

Penn State will now shift its focus to UCLA, as the Bruins will travel to Beaver Stadium for the first time since 1967. However, before we shift our focus to next weekend, Nittany Lion fans can check out BWI photographer Steve Manuel’s photo gallery from Saturday night.
