The BTN bus tour through preseason camp is back as the Big Ten gears up for the 2023 campaign. Once again, the hosts and analysts of the conference network will make stops at every program.

And, they’ll be at Penn State on August 8. Head coach James Franklin and the Nittany Lions will host the BTN one week into the start of preseason practices, which begin on Aug. 2 at the Lasch practice facilities.

The stop is the fourth on the BTN’s tour of the Big Ten’s 14 teams. The tour will begin on Friday, Aug. 4 with a stop at the conference’s most westward program, Nebraska. It’ll follow by moving east to Minnesota (8/6), and Northwestern (8/7), before taking in Penn State’s practices.

Following the visit to Happy Valley on the 8th, the tour will make consecutive stops at fellow Big Ten east programs Rutgers (8/9), Maryland (8/10), Ohio State (8/11), and Indiana (8/12) before breaking for a day. Upon its resumption on Aug. 14 at Michigan, the BTN will conclude its run with days at Michigan State, Purdue, Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin between Aug. 15 and Aug. 19.

While Michigan came out of the annual Big Ten Media Days in Indianapolis last week as the favorite to finish first in the conference, the BTN’s hosts and analysts aren’t sleeping on the Nittany Lions.

Rather, between host Dave Revsine and longtime analyst Gerry DiNardo, the BTN had plenty of positives to say about Penn State. Specifically, they believe the Nittany Lions have a big opportunity ahead of the 2023 season. Between the possibilities exhibited by new quarterback Drew Allar, the pieces surrounding him this season on offense, and a talented outstanding defense led by Manny Diaz, the Nittany Lions figure to be a big part of the conversation for Big Ten supremacy.

“So many people are talking about it in terms of Michigan or Ohio State. And if you don’t throw Penn State into that equation, you’re not paying attention,” Revsine said. “No doubt.”

At the heart of the argument, DiNardo explained that some of the concerns of Michigan and Ohio State this year have as much to do with his bullishness on Penn State as the intriguing young pieces featured this season at Beaver Stadium.

“I personally think Penn State has the edge,” DiNardo said. “If Penn State looks like I think it’s going to look like when we’re on campus, I think they’re going to be the favorite to win the East.”

DiNardo and the rest of the BTN crew will get that opportunity soon.
