The Blue White Illustrated staff was chatting with our premium subscribers over the weekend to discuss what’s happening with Penn State football and several other topics. Among the questions this week:

  • Is there a player or positional group that is flying under the radar and could become a strength this fall?
  • It’s pretty easy to see the difference in positional value through NFL contracts, but how similar of an approach does Penn State take with NIL? Can a QB or WR recruit or backup out-earn a starting S or LB? When they talk about not wanting to overpay recruits relative to contributors, is that compartmentalized to position groups or is it across the whole team?
  • Every year it seems a player stands out as a ‘freak’ athlete. Could Yvan Kemajou be that athlete this year? Could he possibly be in the top 5 of DE this year?
  • Were they allocating significant money for Amin Vanover and Coziah Izzard, or was it such a long shot not really? If so, will that allow them to be more aggressive for replacements in the portal window?
  • Does Tikey Hayes have a chance to eclipse Cam Wallace/Quinton Martin/Corey Smith to become RB3?
  • Do you feel more, less or the same kind of optimism for this recruiting class that was felt during the season?
  • Not looking for names, but is there a position group that you think might get hit by the portal in the Spring window?
