BWI Chat: Penn State recruiting, hoops offseason and more

The Blue White Illustrated staff has been chatting with our premium subscribers over the weekend to discuss what’s happening with Penn State football and several other topics. Among the questions this week:
- By all accounts, our recruiting staff (Alan Zemaitis, Kenny Sanders, Chris Mahon, etc.) is exceptional at what they do. What is the usual career arc for that position? Subcontext/question is how do we hold onto these people? Is it just money or would those people generally aspire to another position?
- Any reason to worry about the recent happenings in the ’26 cycle? Seems like we had a lot of momentum and have lost it a bit.
- Safe to say both Joey O’Brien and Messiah Mickens will come down to ND or PSU?
- Any early predictions on guys who will transfer from Hoops? Also, will PSU have space to make a splash or two in the portal?
- Is King Mack saying anything about his time away from Penn State? What was the drawback to Happy Valley? What changed at Alabama? Seems like an unusual situation with him.
- Given that there can now be unlimited analysts, and they can all act as on-field coaches, what purpose does the graduate assistant position serve? Before the rule change I understood the purpose, but now the position seems an anachronism.
