BWI Chat: Spring portal thoughts; Buzz from Penn State spring practice and more

The Blue White Illustrated staff is chatting with our premium subscribers over the weekend to discuss what’s happening with Penn State football and several other topics. Among the questions this week:
- Any buzz/optimism from the staff on a WR for the spring portal?
- A lot of early buzz on guys was with the caveat of “we will see when they get the pads on.” Well the pads are now, any major changes in those early buzz guys?
- Re 2026 class, is your gut that it ends up being a fairly typical (ranked 10-15 but very good) PSU class or is there still a realistic path for it to be a bit stronger than usual?
- I feel like Penn State is after more and more guys from Texas every year. Is this a natural trend or did Stan Drayton jumping on have them dip further in?
- If we had beaten ND and Tom Allen didn’t go to Clemson, would Franklin have fired him once he knew he could get Jim Knowles?
- Given the NIL constraints, what undervalued traits would you target to build a pipeline of defensive tackles that can mirror the depth of talent at edge rusher?
- Do you think AK manufactures 2-4+ touches a game for Matthew Outten? Maybe end-arounds, jet sweeps, bubble screens, etc. Or is that probably more towards Devonte Ross at this point?
- Chances we’re adding a commit this weekend greater than 50%?
