We’re in the “Way Too Early” portion of the 2025 season when media pundits are clamoring to be the first to a take for the upcoming year. One of the early storylines for Penn State football is that they’re a top team contending for the National Championship, and quarterback Drew Allar is again in the conversation for a Heisman.

But how realistic is any of that? Today on the BWI Live Show, we discuss the factors that would lead Penn State to another deep playoff run and a chance at a Championship in 2025. Join the show at 10 a.m. to get your thoughts on those subjects, plus join the BWI Mailbag portion, back from its postseason hiatus.

Allar for Heisman?

The early odds for the Heisman winner in 2025 are out, and Allar has the fourth-best odds of any player in college football. Is that realistic? We discuss what it takes to win the award and how the Penn State offense can help or hold Allar back. The Nittany Lions need Allar to take the next step and become the best version of himself next year, but does that correlate to postseason awards? We’ll discuss the tactical ways that can happen and what the most realistic outcome is as we sit in January.

Next, we’ll discuss the biggest questions for the Penn State offense and defense, which was part of Greg Pickel’s “Four Thoughts” from yesterday.

Does Penn State have enough NFL talent to win a championship?

We’ll continue our theme of Penn State’s path to a National Championship by discussing a tweet from Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy. In a social media post on Tuesday, Nagy claimed that it takes NFL talent to win a championship in college football. He posted the last six winners of the CFP and the number of NFL Draft picks they had in that year’s draft.

Where does Penn State stand with potential draft talent for 2026? We’ll look at that and examine this article from yesterday about how many players the Lions may realistically send to the NFL after next season.
