BWI Live: Most overrated Penn State storylines for 2024

The Penn State Nittany Lions football team departs on its next quest for a postseason berth this fall in a new, unexplored 12-team playoff. Many situations, players, and decisions will affect the ultimate outcome, but not all in the way. On today’s BWI Live Football Show, we’re discussing those things that hold an oversized place in our minds about the upcoming season.

Fitz’s Recruiting Update

The Big 33 All-Star game between Pennsylvania and Maryland happened last weekend, with three future Penn State football players competing. The star of the event was Nittany Lions commit Tyseer Denmark, who had three touchdowns in the standout performance. What did BWI Publisher Sean Fitz take from the game? He highlights Denmark, run-on Aaron Enterline, and defenisve back commit Kenny Woseley on today’s feature.

From there, we discuss the Penn State wide receiver room further and try to properly contextualize the role that Denmark or fellow freshman Peter Gonzalez can have on the 2024 season.

We start this week’s news update by reviewing the Penn State Board of Trustees meeting from last Tuesday. The board overwhelmingly voted to fund the renovations to the stadium last week, which we previewed before the event. However, we’re reviewing the arguments made during the meeting for the positive and negative votes. We also take a question from the chat about preserving the ambiance of Penn State’s home field while providing a modern and luxurious experience.

Next, we review the civil suit by former Penn State team doctor Scott Lynch. Dr. Lynch sued the university for what he alleged was a retaliatory firing by the program. We discuss the prosecution’s claims and preview what the defense is likely to counter with.

Most Overrated Storylines for the upcoming season

Today’s main topic surrounds the overrated ideas and narratives about the team’s performance this fall. Is Abdul Carter’s move to the defensive end a major negative impact on the linebackers?
