Penn State vs. West Virginia
The show will start off by giving a big-picture view of the opening game between West Virginia and Penn State, then will transition into the biggest news this week. We will cover Mike Yurcich’s move to the coach’s box from the sideline to call plays, Landon Tengwall’s retirement from football, and the first career start of second-year quarterback Drew Allar.
Next, we will transition to breaking down the individual matchups on the field between the two teams. Penn State’s running game, led by Olu Fashanu, Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen, is one of the most feared coming into the 2023 season. So, Hawkins will discuss the major interactions on the offensive line in his key matchups segment.

Of course, you can’t go any further without discussing Allar and his impact on the game. Should the coaching staff play a style that hides their young passer? Or should they call whatever plays they want to win the game? We’ll discuss that topic in the show’s third segment. The wide receivers and tight ends are the next big group with an intriguing storyline coming into the 2023 season. Will Penn State run more three-receiver sets or lean on their tight ends? We’ll discuss the benefits of each.
The Penn State defense is one of the fiercest and deepest units on paper that head coach James Franklin has ever assembled. How can they shut down the West Virginia attack? Finally, we’ll close out the show, breaking down the defensive side of the ball before giving predictions about what we think will happen on the field at 7:30.
