Penn State Media Day Quotes Say More Than You Think

After an event like Penn State Media Day there’s an overwhelming amount of quotes, insight and answers to process after a day-long interview process with the football team. There’s no way that we could get to all of the most interesting quotes and thoughts from Saturday in just one show. So on today’s BWI Live Show, we’re taking a second dip into those conversations. Greg Pickel joins the show to give his perspective on the players and comments he found most interesting from his day on campus.

We’ll also highlight the most interesting takeaways from BTN’s training camp tour of Penn State, which aired Tuesday night. Pickel will discuss the points that fans need to know from the show and how many of them overlap with what we’ve been discussing at Blue White Illustrated.

Four things we learned about Penn State Football on BTN’s Camp Special

Quotes from Media Day thatstuck with us

For the main portion of today’s show, we’ll discuss the quotes that stuck with us since Saturday. Not every comment gets an immediate return after a player or coach utters it into a microphone. Sometimes it takes reflection and perspective to illuminate how important that comment was. We’ll go through talking points from offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki, defensive coordinator Tom Allen, and several players, including Drew Shelton and Kaden Saunders.

Sunday Film Study

Finally, we’ll discuss the Sunday Film Study we did this week on the Blue White Illustrated message board. We took a deep dive into Kotelnicki’s offense at Kansas when he beat Penn State’s first opponent in 2024, West Virginia. The game took place in 2022, but there are obvious elements in the running and passing game that translate to the current Nittany Lions team. We’ll discuss the major takeaways from that game and how perception is very different from the reality of box scores.

Believe it or not, we’re just one day away from our next look at Penn State practice. The team will open its doors again this week on Thursday. Stay tuned to Blue White Illustrated for practice insight and information.
