The Penn State Nittany Lions Football team faces the Notre Dame Fighting Irish on Thursday Jan. 9 for the right to take on either Texas or Ohio State in the College Football National Championship. Penn State opened up this critical week of practice on Saturday with head coach James Franklin’s press conference, followed by several offensive players. Next, they held an open practice on Sunday afternoon. We’re recapping all of that, plus previewing the upcoming game on the BWI Live Show.

Penn State’s best player’s status up in the air

Penn State head coach James Franklin provided some insight into Abdul Carter’s status heading into the game against Notre Dame after suffering an upper-body injury against Boise State last week.

“At this point, I don’t think there’s anything that is stopping him from playing. But it’s just — it’s going to come down to, you know, how is he able to play,” Franklin said.  

We’ll discuss the situation in further detail and try to read between the lines. We’ll also discuss Carter’s status at practice on Sunday to give more details and context to the situation.

Fitz’s Recruiting udpate

We’ll also briefly pause the game conversation to discuss the latest recruiting information and news from the team-building aspects of Penn State football.
