BWI Recruiting Show: Penn State official visit weekend preview
Penn State football opens up the official visit season today with an impressive list of players to start. Today on the BWI Live: Recruiting Show, host Thomas Frank Carr and recruiting insider Ryan Snyder discuss the list of names and the storylines surrounding this weekend.
The duo discusses the top target making a late decision to join the list this week, expanding to the defensive line room, and then discussing wide receivers. Those two groups are in for an important weekend, with the majority of the prospects this weekend playing those two positions.

Penn State hosting top target this weekend
When Penn State’s top overall target is on campus this weekend, there isn’t any other place to start. Four-star lineman Liam Andrews announced this week that he is taking his official visit to Happy Valley during the first weekend of the official visit season. How important is Andrews? T-Frank and Snyder discuss his recruitment and abilities, and T-Frank even gives his preferred position for Andrews to land at if he joins the Nittany Lions.
But Andrews is one of many potential defensive linemen on campus. The Nittany Lions have a group of linemen coming in, and Snyder recaps where he fits in the picture for this class. They’ll also discuss how important this weekend is for new defensive line coach Deion Barnes with so many top targets on campus.

Will team flip Robinson?
Next, they’ll shift their focus to wide receiver. Several of the team’s top targets at the position are committed elsewhere, including Miami pledge Chance Robinson. Snyder breaks down the situation with Robinson and how well he fits into the Penn State program.
Next, they’ll review the offensive line commits coming to campus this weekend because they’re fresh names to the recruiting story. Florida linemen Deryc Plazz and Tye Hylton will make the trek north for the first time to take an official visit. With top Penn State targets still on the board and only a few spots left, will these players rise up the board?
Finally, they’ll discuss the secondary and linebacker players in attendance this weekend. Virginia linebacker Chris Cole is visiting, but with only one linebacker spot available, will he or Elijah Newby find a home with the Nittany Lions? Or can Penn State take both talented outside linebackers? Check out the show for those discussions and more.
