Penn State fans who were bracing for the added traffic, security, and stadium entry issues that could be caused by a former president and current presidential candidate attending Saturday’s Ohio State game no longer have to worry about it. Donald Trump is no longer planning to attend the top five show down in State College. The Centre Daily Times and Onward State first reported the news.

“The University has been notified that former President Donald Trump will no longer be attending the Ohio State-Penn State football game,” university spokesman Wyatt DuBois told the CDT.

Fans and anyone else heading to town for the matchup between the No. 3 Nittany Lions and No. 4 Buckeyes at Noon ET on FOX have wondered for more than a week about how Trump’s plan to attend the game, which was first reported by Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports last week, might impact things. At the time, Penn State told media outlets that it had “been notified that a private citizen has invited former President Donald Trump to attend the Ohio State-Penn State football game as a guest in their suite.” It, of course, has since been notified that the trip is off.

Will Penn State open parking lots and Beaver Stadium gates early?

This question is still on the minds of many ahead of Saturday. A Penn State news release issued earlier this week said the following:

“Premium gates open at 9 a.m. Family Friendly gates open at 9:30 a.m.. And all other public gates open at 10 a.m. With the noon start time, expected game attendance, and the presence of Fox Big Noon Kickoff and ESPN’s College GameDay programs near Beaver Stadium, fans are encouraged to arrive early and allow extra time to reach campus on Saturday.” It added that parking lots would open at 7 a.m. And the typical one-way traffic pattern around the stadium will start at 9:30 a.m. In other words, things would be status quo for this weekend as they would be for any other Noon home game.

Of course, this is not any other Noon home game. ESPN College GameDay is coming to town for the top-five showdown. Penn State-Ohio Staate will have a major impact on both the Big Ten title race and the first College Football Playoff rankings, which come out next Tuesday, of course. The FOX Big Noon Kickoff show will broadcast from campus, as well. And an over-capacity crowd is expected for this weekend’s biggest college football contest. Blue-White Illustrated will report on any changes to the plan if they are announced by the university.
